Description of the Project

The Project

This project is the continuation of the “ War Zone Inititative – SI Edinet (Moldova)” project which has now entered phase 2.

Indeed, at the end of phase 1, SI Edinet managed to collect the requested funds and obtained the first results thanks to donations made through Project Matching and the SIE Disaster Recovery Fund: The Soroptimists of Edinet have assisted 4 Refugees Centres. They have purchased all the inquired necessary goods (equipment like washing machines, dryers, bunk beds, etc., mattresses & pillows, etc.) for two Centres & most part of the same goods for the other two Centres.

The approximate number of assisted refugees in all Centres so far is more than 4000. The number of refugees is starting to increase again since people are being evacuated from Donbas & Lugansk Regions. If they move to Odessa, then Moldova is expecting a huge increase.

For these reasons, the Soroptimists have expressed the wish to reopen the project to continue to assist the Centres in buying the rest of the necessary items.
