The Project
Slovakia had taken in about 141,000 Ukrainian refugees, especially women with children (UNHCR).
SI Club Žilina started to collect urgent material for Uzhgorod, Ukraine, while SI Bratislava played a backup role for the missing items.
We distribute leaflets in Ukrainian, a few also in English, with all necessary information provided by the Ministry of Interior, at main bus and railway stations in Bratislava, where refugees from the border have been arriving. For refugees transiting via Slovakia, they help them go to their final destination country.
In shelters, we would like to provide food, hygienic material, toys for children, etc. And appliances such as clothes washing machines. We are continuously exchanging information with SI clubs in Slovakia and Czech Republic to help hosting families.
We are collaborating with the Association of Emergency Ambulances (AZZS), they have offered one of their ambulances to be filled with healthcare material to be sent to Kyiv’s military hospital. A second ambulance vehicle is expected to be sent as well.
